We have several ongoing studies and upcoming projects, and provide excellent opportunities for additional research assistants/associates/coordinators to get involved. There will be ample opportunities to enhance your knowledge and learn about new findings in clinical research.

We currently offer the following positions:

Research Assistant

Research Assistant in Clinical Research for 1-2 years as a stepping stone. E-mail a cover letter with your CV to Dr. Apfel.

Research Coordinator

If you are interested in the position of a clinical Research Coordinator conducting clinical trials, please e-mail a cover letter with your CV to Dr. Radke.

What needs to be done?

  • Recruit patients for ongoing studies (interviews, data collection from medical charts)
  • Literature search (PubMed, Embase etc.)
  • Data management (database programming, data entry, data validation and cleaning)
  • Data analysis (including statistical testing, meta-analysis)
  • Communication with partners and sponsors throughout the US and internationally
  • Organization of our projects, resources and daily tasks
  • Medical writing and proofreading
  • Turning research ideas into study design (including organization, forms, databases)
  • Writing IRB applications and funding requests
  • Outside communications (website design and maintenance, correspondence, networking)
  • Organization of meetings

Skills needed

  • Excellent communication skills that ensure effective interaction with group members, hospital staff and external partners
  • Excellent work ethics (will involve some evening and weekend work according to study needs)
  • Excitement about learning new tools and adopting new skills (especially some medical background knowledge or computer skills)

Skills that are advantageous

  • Experience as a clinical research coordinator
  • Experience in anesthesia-related fields (OR, PACU, ICU)
  • Solid medical background knowledge
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office, especially Word)
  • Programming skills (VBA, HTML, VBScript)
  • Experience with statistical software (Stata, SPSS)
